Esslinger Engineering has developed a cost effective midget engine that would allow
teams the opportunity to compete competitively on short tracks across the country.
After many months of work, we are proud to release the new
"Esslinger ST Midget Engine". The recent introduction and
subsequent success of the Indy Racing League has promoted midget
racing as a stepping stone to the Indy ranks. And as open wheel champions such
as Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman have moved up to the NASCAR
Nextel Cup ranks, individuals who are able have been more willing than ever to spend
exorbitant amounts of money to compete in "traditional" midget racing. Many talented
competitors have been forced to make difficult yet responsible financial decisions,
resulting in a loss of entries and hurting car counts. The primary focus of the new
"Short Track" engine is to utilize Esslinger's reputation of horsepower, without
sacrificing reliability and cost. This is done by controlling cost though modern
manufacturing techniques and eliminating exotic materials. It is also possible to
upgrade the new "ST" engine in the future for those wishing to compete on the larger,
national style race tracks.
